Meet Coline: A Thrill-Seeking Adventurer
My name is Coline Benninger, but my friends call me ‘Coco l’asticot’ (Coco the maggot).
I was born and raised in Switzerland. I live between Le Châble in the Canton of Valais and Bulle in the Canton of Fribourg, and I spend a lot of time on the road, whether mountain bike guiding, road bike guiding, or snowboarding.
I got into mountain biking when I discovered downhill, but my bike was stolen. So, after saving enough, I decided to get an enduro bike to do it all (mix the grind of the ups with the thrill of the downs), and I was hooked. When I moved to Le Châble, I discovered the amazing MTB community here. So, that was also a draw. I also got into road riding during COVID. So, whether on the trails or roads, I love riding.
A Life Spent in the Mountains
There are many reasons why I like to ride, but I particularly enjoy the physical effort, being in nature and admiring landscapes. I also like the fact that MTB can be an opportunity for socializing but also for introspection. You can share moments with friends or go on a random ride alone. Being outside in nature is the main goal. So, guiding is a way to mix fun with work. I get to spend most of my time outdoors and meet new people from all over the world – a win-win!
I love going on adventures (any kind!). Adventure, to me, means putting myself in situations where I have to push my limits mentally and physically and discovering new places. You don’t need to go far away to have an adventure. It can be next to home as long as it’s a personal mission.
While cycling is one of my biggest passions, my other love is snowboarding. I’m a semi-pro snowboarder and spend my winters snowboarding and working for a charitable foundation. So, I basically live on the slopes.

Haute Route Thrills
My favourite e-MTB tour in the Alps is the UNESCO Haute Route (from Crans-Montana to Lötschental). The trails are pure flow with incredible backdrops and pristine landscapes. There are not many people on the trails, so you get a sense of truly being in the wilderness.
E-Alps is a hard-working family of people passionate about the Alps and mountain bikes. We all try our best to share our love for biking and have fun in the process.
Speaking of fun, one of the most memorable Haute Route experiences guiding was last year on the Chamonix-Zermatt Haute Route. We spent the week with a crew of ten crazy Americans. They were so excited about everything. Every viewpoint, mountain pass or descent was a cause for celebration. The vibe was super high, and the fun was contagious. This is why I guide – to share the stoke for bikes and nature with people.
I’d recommend to anyone considering riding one of our Haute Routes to remember to wear plenty of sunscreen and pack a warm rain jacket. Also (and most importantly), don’t overestimate your level; these Haute Routes are fun but physically and mentally demanding.
And to anyone hesitating about riding an e-MTB in the Alps, you'd be surprised at the trails you can access and enjoy on an e-bike.
